Doing charity quilts reminds me that there are people who need a big hug.
Among my many quils I have donated five quilts to Habitat for Humanity, two quilts to the New Mexico School for the Deaf, three quilts to Project Linus for hospitalized children and several to my various guilds for charity donations. Quilting is one my greatest joys, and I love sharing it with others.
Since I have begun longarming, I have quilted over 60 community service quilts for various charities, including 10 to American Hero Quilts, which gives quilts to injured troops of our armed forces returning home from war. In May, 2011, I quilted about a dozen quilts for "Pieces of Home," which were given to soldiers going to Afghanistan. Offering up military quilts really means a lot to me since many members of my family have served, and I enjoy donating my time and skill to help others.
